SHS Winter Guard Information
Competes during the Winter and Spring in the AIA Circuit
After the Color Guard season ends, auditions for the Winter Guard are held in December for the Winter Guard. Rehearsals begin in January and Saturday competitions usually run from February through March. AIA Finals weekend is usually the last weekend in March or the first weekend in April. The Winter Guard also performs at local shows such as Mayfest and Indoor Invitational events held at local high schools.

Color Guard
Performs as part of the Purple Regiment in the Fall
Students audition for the Color Guard in May after school. It is open only the rising 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th Grade students. The Color Guard has its own camp in August apart from the rest of the marching band, then joins them for Full Rehearsals as well as Band Camp. Then the students perform at football games and competitions as part of the Purple Regiment. The season culminates with the Strasburg Christmas Parade on the first weekend of December.

Alumni and current seniors instruct this early Spring Group
Starting toward the end of January, the SKMS Guard meets once a week and learns basic techniques and a simple yet challenging and fun routine for local performances. This ensemble is also given the Winter Guard schedule and is encouraged to come out and support the older group. This group performs in local venues like Mayfest and basketball games.
